Football has remained an American favorite for quite some time now. Baseball used to hold the coveted spot as America’s favorite sport, but that time has long since passed. Football is now where it is at. Everything from the Friday night high school games that are so popular in their local communities to the professionals who play on Sundays, football is everywhere.

Perhaps no area loves their football more then the state of Texas. It is a tradition in that area that is like none other. People gather around to watch whatever game is on anytime there is one on. It is something that they obsess about and discuss at length with one another. In short, it is loved here as much as anything else.

The Houston Texans are the latest team to join the National Football League, and this market was selected on purpose. The NFL knew that they would have a large base of fans ready to see a professional team in their area. Therefore, Houston was the perfect pick for the next city to host a professional football team. That is where they are, and the team has been well adopted into the league so far. They are getting better each year.

As one of the up-and-coming teams in NCAA football, the Houston Cougars are a football team to be reckoned with whether they are playing in Conference USA, the Big East or maybe even one day the Big 12. Located in a hotbed for football talent, the Cougars have always produced some of the most exciting offensive football teams around. Going back to the record setting days of Quarterback Andre Ware or the recent brilliance of Quarterback Case Keenum, the Cougars are known for their aerial attack that leaves defenses gasping for breath while the Cougars are on the prowl.

Despite the loss of Coach Kevin Sumlin to in-state rivals Texas A&M, the Houston Cougars are poised for great things in the future due to the solid system that him and his staff left in place. If the Cougars are able to steal a few recruits here and there from the big boys like the Aggies, the Texas Longhorns and the TCU Horned Frogs, they should have a great chance of competing for titles in whatever league they belong to. Now is a great time to be a fan of the Houston Cougars as they continue to growl at their opponents!

Everyone knows that a football game is not meant to be quiet and relaxed. The typical football game will be very fun and loud and the Houston Cougars fans need to know this. A team will need that extra push from the crowd to really be able to see any big difference in their performance. Men who play the sport will admit that it can be tough to play on the road because the crowd will not be in your favor. This is the reason why there is such thing as the home court advantage as it really does mean a lot.

This is why it is crucial for the Houston Cougars fans to learn how to create cheers and finally help push this team to perform better. Football is a sport that requires a lot of energy and the noise that the crowd creates will definitely drive a team. If you are a true Houston Cougars fan, you need to understand how important it is for you to attend the games and to contribute to the overall atmosphere that these games can create.

It is hard to believe that the city of Houston didn’t have a professional football team for five years in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Houston is the fourth biggest city in the country and is the biggest city in the football crazy state of Texas. The city was crazy about their Houston Oilers until Bud Adams decided to move the team to Nashville, Tennessee in 1997 where they later became the Tennessee Titans. In 2002 the NFL decided that Houston deserved a team again and granted them an expansion franchise. The franchise decided to call the team the Houston Texans.
The Texans were pretty bad at first as most expansion teams are. But, through some good front office moves and good drafting built one of the most potent offenses in the NFL led by quarterback Matt Schaub. The fans in Houston have been hungry for a winner for over a decade. The fan base was ignited by the championship caliber team and has been out supporting them in full. On top of that the University of Houston Cougars football team has seen some great success as well in recent seasons. Football was once all but dead in the city of Houston but it has made a huge comeback in this football obsessed city.

Football is a unique sport. It is the only professional sport that utilizes specialty players on offense and defense in a regular rotation as a game is played. Players can play both ways if needed and can be taken out and re-inserted at the coaching staff’s will, but most players are assigned a position on the depth chart, meaning that each position player has a designated backup generally.

In addition, football teams have specialty squads in the “kicking game” that play in particular instances like punts and kick-offs.This{{/tag} helps explain it more. The result is a true team sport where no one person tends to shine unless they are an integral part of either the offense or defense. Quarterbacks tend to lead their teams, but the eleven-man composition of the each fielded team means that even the stars are heavily dependent on their teammates.

Both basketball and baseball have a significant amount of one-player impact that does not occur often in football. In basketball a team can rely heavily on one or two players. Baseball teams can do likewise because of power hitters, pitchers, and excellent fielding. But football is a true team sport in ways that the others are not and this lends credence to the notion that it is a true game of champions.

No matter where in Houston you live, no matter what your favorite team is whether it be Pop Warner or all the way up to the Professionals, football is a great activity to do with your family. There are several reasons why this is true. The first is that at a football game you are all engaged in the same thing, it gives you something to laugh, joke, and be frustrated (if they lose) about during and after creating memories for you family. You also will probably be driving to the game and from the game together adding to your family time. It also is a fun and safe atmosphere where you can enjoy all kinds of snack bar goodies. At a football game, your family will most likely be cheering for the same team and this can bring about bonding and it is good team-building or in this case “family-building.” There are many rules and requirements to football and getting to teach your family what they are or learn alongside of them has its rewards. Regardless of the age of your family, your history and knowledge of football, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Football is a great family activity and you will only know that if you give it a try.

The Houston Texans are quickly becoming one of the most popular teams in the National Football League. The team has only been in existence for 10 years. They had some rough years in the beginning when it came to their win loss record. But, professional football has seen a resurgence in Houston in recent years as the team has begun to put a winning team on the field. The arrival of Pro Bowl quarterback has lit a fire in the Houston fan base that they haven’t experienced since the Houston Oilers left in 1997 for Tennessee.
Another huge reason for the exuberance of the fan base is the location of the team. Houston is the fourth biggest city in the world. Sure, L.A. is second biggest and doesn’t even have a team but Houston is located in Texas where football is king. When you play football in the biggest city in the biggest football state in America you are bound to build a rabid and active fan base when you put a winner on the field. This is exactly what the team has done. With their backing and their great coaching staff and GM they look to be competitive for a long time. We could be seeing a lot of sellouts in Houston in the future.
